2015 has been a better year for new smartphones launches, but the best is yet to come in 2016. Here is a list of the best new smartphones coming to the US next year, including the best new Samsung smartphones, best new HTC smartphones, best new Xiaomi smartphones, best new LG smartphones, best new Windows smartphones, best new iPhones and more.
New smartphone releases 2016: iPhone 7
If there has been one reliable thing about Apple’s iPhone launches, it’s that they happen only once per year. There were some rumors that Apple was about to change that tradition, but the truth is that we are most of the way through 2015 and we haven’t had one iPhone launch. Apple iPhone 7 is expected to be unveiled in September 2016. The phone is expected to be much sleeker and slimmer than the previous iPhones.
Apple iPhone 7 rumored key features/specs include:
- A 14 megapixel camera
- The phone is expected to have a bigger screen than that of the iPhone 6 plus
- The phone is also expected to have a quad-core A8 processor
- iPhone 7’s memory could be 256GB or even higher
- A new battery technology is expected to be in place to provide extra hours of usage
- It’s expected that iPhone 7 will be 4G equipped providing better connectivity
New smartphone releases 2016: Samsung Galaxy S7
Samsung galaxy 7 would be the next flagship smartphone from Samsung. After successfully launching the S6 and S6 edge, people are now looking at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy 7 smartphone. Samsung is expected to launch the new Galaxy S7 in March 2016 at Mobile World Congress.
In the S6 the company turned its back on Qualcomm processor and instead used one of its own Exynos processors. It’s possible that we could see a continuation of this trend. Samsung has already been testing out the Snapdragon 820. As a matter of fact, the company is said to be working alongside Qualcomm in manufacturing the 820 with 3GHz Kyro CPU cores. This means that the new Samsung Galaxy S7 could see Adreno 530 graphics and LP DDR4 RAM, possibly as much as 6GB.
It’s also expected that the phone will have the fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor found in the Samsung Galaxy S6. The phone will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and TouchWiz.
New smartphone releases 2016: LG G5
It’s not long since the LG G4 was launched, but the LG G5 will be in the market by the end of spring 2016. It’s true that very little is known so far about LG G5, but it’s believed that the company is working with Irience to bring an iris scanner to the LG G5. And that is something of a surprise, given that the G4 doesn’t even have a fingerprint scanner.
The new LG G5 smartphone is expected to have a larger capacity battery, probably up to 4000mAh. The phone will also feature a wireless charge. Other features/specs will include: 4 or 5 GB RAM, 21 MP which can take 4k images, Full QHD or UHD display and Snapdragon 810 or other best upcoming processor.
New smartphone releases 2016: Xiaomi Mi 6
Xiaomi is very famous for its affordable smartphones. According to rumors Xiaomi is secretly working on its next smartphone (Mi6), after Xiaomi Mi5. The Xiaomi Mi6 is rumored to be the first Xiaomi phone to debut in markets such as US, Canada, and others who have been patiently waiting for true premium quality, budget friendly smartphone. The phone is also rumored to be getting some serious upgrades, and the company intends on maintaining the consumer friendly prices. The phone is expected to be launched in June, 2016.
It’s seems that Xiaomi Mi6 will be holding nothing back with the screen specs which include a 4k screen, and an unheard of 4096 *2160 resolution. A Qualcomm Snapdragon octa core processor will be seen again, but will be getting a step-up in speed. The Mi6 processor is expected to be clocked at 2.5 GHz to 2.7 GHz. The Mi6 is also rumored to feature a retina eye scanner. There are also leaks on integrated wireless charging, and an enhanced rapid charging feature. Other features include 23 MP rear facing camera, 7MP front facing camera, 2450 mAh battery and composite metal uni-body design with rear glass.
New smartphone releases 2016: HTC One M10
Following poor sales of the M9, it’s alleged that HTC could launch M10 as early as October 2015 with an all-new naming scheme, either HTC 02, or HTC Two or even HTC A9.
HTC launches are usually held just before March’s Mobile World Congress show, and there isn’t enough to convince us otherwise just yet, but the company’s chairwoman Cher wang has said that we will see an amazing product in October and there will be significant improvements in design and innovations for the next flagship model next year.
If speculation is to be believed, the new HTC M10 will offer a fairly major revamp compared with that which its predecessor offered over the M8 before it. Improving on its predecessor, the new HTC M10 is expected to use Qualcomm’s yet to be announced Snapdragon 820-processor. This processor is rumored to come with 4GB RAM.
Other HTC M10 features/specs will include:
- 64 GB/128GB on board memory solution
- 27 MP front and rear sensor camera with phase detection auto focus technology
- Dual-Sim support
- 3500 mAh battery
- Two Stereo speakers
- Heart rate sensor
- Waterproof and dustproof certification
- Touch ID scanner
- 5 inches 4k/2k resolution display
New smartphone releases 2016: Microsoft Lumia 940
The reason why people are so excited about the upcoming Microsoft Lumia 940 is that it will be among the first smartphones to run full Windows 10 when it launch on 6 October. Microsoft is expected to tackle the Windows Phone apps problem by running one OS across phones, PCs, laptops and tablets. The Lumia 940 is expected to have the beefiest spec of any Windows phone we have seen so far.
Replacing the Lumia 930, the new Microsoft Lumia 940 will likely have a similar price. The phone is expected to have the following features/specs:
- Adreno 420 graphics
- 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor
- Windows Phone 10
